Color filter is also called filter. Color filter is a kind of product in optical glass, which plays the role of passing, limiting and blocking various light. It is widely used in photography creation, printing plate making and various scientific and technological photography. Color filters for black and white photography are mainly used to correct the color sensitivity of black and white films, adjust contrast, eliminate interference light, etc.; color filters for color photography are mainly used to correct the color temperature of light sources and compensate for colors.
The role of color filters on various lights
1. Adjust contrast and highlight the subject. In photography practice, color contrast is often used to achieve the purpose of highlighting the subject. For example, when the tones of the subject and the background are similar and difficult to distinguish, add a color filter of the same color as the subject to make the subject brighter in the photo, so as to achieve the purpose of obvious difference in tones between the subject and the background.
2. Adjust the tone to enhance the artistic expression of the picture. The filter can be used to adjust the tone of the photo. By choosing the right filter under certain light, you can shoot the artistic effect you want to express. Especially when shooting landscape photos, the reasonable selection of various filters can get pictures with different tones.
3. Adjust the color temperature to suit the color temperature requirements of the photosensitive film. When shooting with color sensitive film, especially when shooting with color reversal film, the color film has very strict requirements on color temperature. Using different color filters under different color temperatures (balanced color temperature filters are special filters) is the guarantee for the color balance of the photosensitive film in color photography.
