Quartz glass is made of natural crystallized quartz (crystal or pure silica) or synthetic silane melted at high temperature. Quartz glass is a special industrial technical glass with a single component of silicon dioxide. This glass has a hardness of up to Mohs level 7, has high temperature resistance, low expansion coefficient, thermal shock resistance, chemical stability and good electrical insulation performance, and can transmit ultraviolet and infrared rays. According to transparency, it is divided into two categories: transparent and opaque.

      

        1 .Quartz glass is not only excellent in optical properties, but also in electrical properties. At room temperature, the resistance of quartz glass is 10 times that of ordinary glass, the dielectric loss of all frequencies is very small, and the insulation withstand voltage strength is large.

        2. Quartz glass is an acidic material. Except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, it is inert to any other acid and is a good acid-resistant material. At room temperature, the degree of corrosion of alkali and salt to quartz glass is also relatively small.

        3. Transparent quartz glass has better chemical stability than opaque quartz glass, because the latter has an increased surface area exposed to the corrosive liquid due to the presence of bubbles.

        4 . Quartz glass has high dielectric strength and low conductivity, that is, it can still maintain high dielectric strength and resistance under high temperature, high pressure and high frequency, and has almost no dielectric loss in the applied frequency band, so quartz glass is an excellent high-temperature dielectric insulation material.

Quartz glass has the advantages of low thermal expansion coefficient, high temperature resistance, good chemical stability, and excellent electrical insulation, low and stable ultrasonic delay performance, and has higher mechanical properties than ordinary glass.
